A Loaded Gun

Cocked and ready to go off! Referencing husband and his behavior during our divorce, this artwork is part of a series of 3. The first was Sociopath, the second is this one, and the third is Magnificent, Fascinating, Perilous Moments On the Edge.

With the election of thingamabob, without question, this is what America will soon have in the highest office wholly supported by SCOTUS.

U.S. Presidential Election - 2024

I really thought women would be the force in determining the outcome and elect Kamala, along with additional support from aware, evolved men. Surely, women would feel so angry that sovereignty and the right to govern our bodies have been taken away with the overturning of Roe v. Wade, as just the beginning. Women definitely were a force….for evil. My thinking was wrong! With this escalated trend of our worth so minimized, I see it’s the wrong time for a female president. I return to what I’ve known for a long time and a premise of my work - that women are complicit in perpetuating systemic distorted patriarchy pervading every facet of our lives. Thereby, upholding the system of inequality.

Last Night's Presidential Debate

Whew, what an ordeal! Kamala did an outstanding job of not getting pulled into thingamabob’s vortex of negativity, discombobulation, and rants. I thought she was eloquently impressive in communicating effectively and coherently her plans for addressing the needs of the people and baiting him. Plus, she has a great, encouraging smile. A hugely glaring contrast! Although the moderators were better than the last debate at least in addressing a few of the lies, they did let him manipulate the narrative from time to time and go beyond the allotted response time. After around 80 stressful minutes, I started muting him. When that didn’t calm me, I turned to my paints and created this dense work. Kinetic and quick, it did the trick!

Awe For Solitude

My son sent me this article. Although I, too, subscribe to Good News Network, somehow I missed it. Awe is such a simple word yet hugely powerful for solitude and perhaps for advancing equanimity and enjoyment of life.

US Surgeon General Vivek Murthy was featured on NPR not too long ago stating his concerns about a potential loneliness epidemic as it relates to social connection. I think we have to be careful about fear and a label of “loneliness epidemic” especially as it relates to people living alone such as myself. This article offers a more comprehensive, important view. I absolutely agree, “Being alone doesn’t necessarily lead to loneliness. Many of us appreciate solitude as a time for personal reflection, creativity, and spiritual enrichment, even as we enjoy our social ties too. Yet, if we equate solitude with loneliness, or don’t have a positive view of it, we may avoid it and lose its potential benefits.” Certainly, though, I do understand the need for and value of good, quality social connections. We need a balance.

Magnificent Fascinating Perilous Moments

On the edge. We’re so on the edge! I understand and share the fear of another thingamabob presidency, but I really don’t subscribe to how the democrats are throwing Biden under the bus, disrespecting him, and his legacy in forcing him to step aside. I agree “there was a much more dignified way to do this if this is what they wanted.” He deserves high regard for his decades of devotion and tireless work for the thriving of this country. He’s been a good president. Especially given the distorted partisanship, one of the best in modern times. I’m not convinced that leaking private conversations to the public and fueling the mainstream chatter and chaos without a strong replacement ticket will assure a win in November. I guess we’ll know soon enough if the democrats were effective or not, smart or stupid.
