Thus far, I have sympathized with the LGBT community and understand the motivation for the new SF ordinance as well as CA law converting all single use toilets behind a single entry door into gender neutral restrooms. (I'm even willing to painstakingly avoid the pee-pee on the floor.) However, I draw the line with businesses such as Barney's and the DeYoung changing their multi-stall restrooms behind a single entry door to gender neutral. Women no longer have privacy and safety! Since crime stats show that men are typically the sexual perpetrators, this is an issue to be in an enclosed room with many stalls.
The SF building inspector who co-wrote the ordinance said this scenario is against building code and he would do something about it. To date, and it has been months, he has done nothing and is incommunicado.
Either convert back the gender specific multi-stall restrooms to female or male or spend the money to redesign your buildings for an expansive gender neutral restroom space of many toilets with a wide open entrance and no door. Oh, and maybe bring back the urinals to aid men in aiming more accurately!
The Battery does it right, then again, it's a classy place. This is not classy, nor safe, Barney's, and your set up inconsistent since your Beverly Hills store still has specific, multi-stall restrooms for women and men. And, DeYoung, there was a trashy feel to the event last night, and men and women were confused as to which restrooms they were entering.
To conclude, the LGBT rights in SF have trumped mine. It's far-left situations like this that push women and men to vote far-right.
