Briefly watched a scene from the movie "A Country Wedding" last night. As a precursor to his marriage proposal, the man takes the hands of the woman and says, "I love you with all my heart, and I want to walk through life leaning against you so that neither one of us falls. You are my true love."
Really? OMG! Come on, Hallmark, how can this marriage work? With this dialogue, are you inferring that men typically need to and do "lean" on women for strength and to keep them standing? Must say, I have years of familiarity with this.
(Edit: Circling back, now 2019, in changing channels recently this movie was on the screen again. I missed it the first time - it was actually the woman who initially stated that she wanted the man she was going to marry to say the above to her. He was complying with her wishes. Either way, this is not what healthy love and marriage are about, and I still call-out Hallmark to correct.)
