The Envelope

Yesterday it arrived and, Goddamn, in a momentary loss of focus, I inadvertently and jaggedly tore the top. Peering inside, I caught a quick glimpse at a folded up legal document with a signature. Expecting this by mid-January, I had been on mail alert with steadfast intention to “return to sender” this intact and unopened envelope. OOPS! Immediately, reflex-style, I grabbed the scotch tape and began a mini art project taping the top back together to pass postal inspection.

As mentioned previously, an older sibling, in collusion with her twin sons, stole my monetary inheritance/gift. Repeatedly lying, they got mother to transfer the deed to her valuable property on LaRinconada Drive outside her will and trust, thereby, removing it as an asset and making it “untouchable”. The combination of living to an older age and bilking by siblings and nephews left a small amount of liquid assets, an amount that would not cover my stated gift and that of younger sister. To make the scam/theft complete, this older sibling and sons petitioned the Court to abate our gifts. My only recourse - file an elderly financial abuse lawsuit, which is certainly the case here. I thought long and hard about it; however, in weighing cost vs. benefit, it made no sense. It would have been a solo venture as my younger sister received her inheritance/gift in advance a few years ago.

Uncontested, this Petition would be signed by a judge and the theft legitimized. Another legal document concealing deceit and signifying injustice and, well, a familiar “Ugh” for me from divorce litigation. So, upon receipt, I prepared to get it out of my field of energy ASAP.

Drop off at the post office was empowering as I acknowledged a Divine, higher law, law of attraction and the boomerang effect. How foolish for anyone to think that ignoble behavior leads to happiness.
