Sociopath

Fundamentally, a person who lacks awareness of the impact of his or her rhetoric/actions on others and any desire to know. For a time, I was tangled up with one. Now our country is tangled up with another. (A clue - someone who is hell-bent on winning.)

Phrases

In reviewing my Events page this morning, very pleasant memories arose regarding the many different celebrations in my beloved, beautiful house, a house I worked so painstakingly hard to design. I held on to it as long as I could. Then, much to my dismay, it had to go. Years later, I've gained full understanding of manifesting beauty through which my marriage and world as I had known it could crumble. Kind of interesting. Anyway, the words, "Gone Baby Gone" popped into my mind. That was the name of a movie Ben Affleck directed years ago wherein a child was abducted and later found alive and well.

Along with Nike's "Just Do It", "Gone Baby Gone", "Oops" and "Perfect, Tommy, Perfect" are now my slogans that facilitate movement in consciousness for levity, release, forgiveness, compassion, freedom from binding attachments, and receptivity for flourishing.

Most likely as time goes on, I will adopt others.

5 Element Acupuncturist

So very happy to be reunited with this strong, wise master of a man. With his love, compassion, insightful words/great advice, the burning herb Moxa and needles, my body and core respond quickly and deeply to his treatments. He's sustained me through some tough times, especially the divorce, and, now, he's coming to my rescue again with this last high voltage mother/sibling passage. His accuracy in reading pulses, hence, knowing me well, is amazing.

Book Pitch

If I were to write a book characterizing my life, the overall theme would be healing through creative arts expression. Chapters would include various experiences from childhood through adulthood involving oppression, injustice, sexism, elitism and patriarchy; however, emphasis would be on my work and dedication to transcendence, freedom and beauty.

Even though dance, music and vocal training continue to play important roles, for the last 8 years, art and words/associated writings have become the primary focus as a testament to and chronicle of my journey.

Hopefully, my creativity inspires others to forge ahead with resiliency, courage and vision.

Oops Again

Many people keep insisting I pursue this theme. In an attempt to spark creativity, I reached for some acrylics and quickly squirted the colors onto this canvas. As I carefully taped all the edges to preserve a clean, white border, surprisingly the colors dripped onto them anyway. I wasn't so thrilled with the result, but my son loves it. Beauty in the eyes of the beholder perhaps?

A Memory

Years ago when my son was 5, we started a practice of saying prayers of gratitude prior to eating dinner. When it was his turn, he said, "Thank you, God, for me, my Mom and my Dad." Emphatically stating gratitude for his life first was immediately impactful. I felt elated for him to embody and be sustained by this. And, in wonderment, I was struck with the fundamental question, "What does that really feel like - to be happy and grateful for one's life?"

As I experienced significant distressing and disturbing events in early childhood through adolescence, this sense of the value of my life and the preciousness of the human experience was indeed elusive. My son's prayer turned out to be a turning point and cornerstone for deeper inquiry, and I shall be forever grateful to him for his teaching and prompting.

BTW, this was the only prayer my son kept repeating at dinnertime until his father taught him the Lord's Prayer. Thereafter, he recited that as his prayer. Although important to know this, I honestly felt disappointed and unhappy over the replacement, as it wasn't from his heart; rather, from, albeit, impressive memorization. It was way too long to repeat when we were hungry and just wanted to eat. As time went on, his Lord's Prayer recital at the dinner table elicited laughter as, unquestionably, there was a hilarious component to the length.

Meditation

I've been practicing TM (Transcendental Meditation) for years. It involves a mantra and 2-20 min meditations,  AM and PM. Lately, especially in the mornings, to sit quietly isn't a preference as I wake up with creative urges. Not so surprisingly, in a recent session with my spiritual guide (psychic), she brought up this issue and suggested I include/practice moving meditations such as walking, dancing, making art, writing, etc.

She then said something very beautiful. "When the hummingbirds come for you, then your dictates for meditation have to change around that as it's a totally new flow you're in; and it's about permission to let your light shine."

Hence, these 4 AM blog postings.
