Someone recently remarked that many of my art pieces look distinctly different as if done by various artists. Putting myself in a box is neither appealing nor resonating, and I certainly don’t want anyone else to put me in a box. My rhythm is to flow with the every-changing creative force moment by moment.

I don’t want to be told what to do or how to do it. To quote Henry David Thoreau, “If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away.” (Of course, my interpretation includes all human beings.)

At a certain point in my marriage, I started to say with utmost clarity, “I was not put on this earth to follow you.” To be sure, this was frustrating for both of us! And, although, I did not utter these words to my mother or female siblings, I appropriately could have as the theme of this lifetime’s journey is my autonomy; learning non-capitulation and experiencing the freedom to live my live as a luminous warrior. Just is.
